It is said that pausing brings change.
That’s why we take time at the beginning of your NUHR Life Modification stay to look at your current situation, analyze risk factors and identify energy drainers.

In addition to specialist information on a healthier lifestyle, our expert staff will also give you plenty of freedom to rediscover your own rhythm and balance.

Preventive medical check-up

In our hectic world, we often neglect the most important things: ourselves, our bodies and our health.
Mental stress, an unhealthy diet, lack of exercise – all of these can lead to long-term health problems.
To prevent this, it is crucial to recognize these risk factors early on and counteract them.
This is exactly where we come in to provide you with the best possible support!

Our motto is: “Prevention is better than cure”.
The health check as part of our preventive medical check-up provides you with important insights into your general state of health.
In this way, we can detect chronic illnesses at an early stage and minimize potential risk factors through targeted measures.
Early detection of illnesses can significantly improve the chances of recovery.
A particular focus here is on cardiovascular diseases and cancer, which are among the most common causes of death worldwide.

As part of our NUHR Medical Check, you will receive a comprehensive preventive examination to identify risk factors at an early stage and counteract them.

FAQ – All information for you

The screening examination program focuses on the early detection and prevention of certain diseases.
Various aspects of the state of health are specifically examined.
This allows potential risk factors to be identified at an early stage so that appropriate measures can be taken for prevention or treatment.

Early detection of cardiovascular diseases

An important objective is the early detection of cardiovascular diseases.
Here, an individual risk profile is drawn up that correlates lifestyle habits such as smoking or alcohol consumption with physical and internal values such as weight or blood pressure.

Focus on metabolic diseases

Another focus is on the early detection of metabolic diseases, in particular diabetes mellitus.
By reviewing medical history, family history and measuring blood glucose levels, diseases such as diabetes can be diagnosed and treated at an early stage.

Early detection of cancer

The screening also includes the early detection of common cancers.
These include the PAP smear test for the early detection of cervical cancer in women aged 18 and over, the mammography examination for the early detection of breast cancer in women aged between 45 and 69 as well as the “fecal occult blood test” and the screening colonoscopy for the early detection of bowel cancer from the age of 50.

Prevention of addictions

There is also a separate focus on the prevention of addiction.
Here, the consumption of tobacco, alcohol and medication is recorded and support and help with withdrawal is offered.

Prevention of periodontal disease

The preventive check-up also aims to prevent periodontal disease.
Particular attention is paid to identifying risk factors for periodontitis in order to slow down or stop the progression of the disease through appropriate prevention.

Prevention of age-related diseases

Finally, special attention is paid to the prevention of age-related diseases.
In particular, people over the age of 65 are offered a comprehensive examination of their hearing and vision, as a third of them suffer from hearing or visual impairments.
Early detection enables appropriate treatment and helps to improve quality of life.

In addition to the general examination program, the preventive medical check-up also includes the following specific examination programs:

  • For people aged 65 and over, early detection of hearing and visual impairment is also part of the health check.
  • If you are 50 years or older, bowel cancer screening is part of the health check.
In addition to a blood test of your stool (haemoccult test), you will be referred for a colonoscopy (every ten years).

For women:

  • from the age of 18: cervical smear (PAP smear) for the early detection of cervical cancer.
  • from the age of 45: breast cancer screening program.

For men aged 50 and over, a prostate cancer screening is part of the health check.

Screening involves a variety of tests aimed at identifying health risk factors and detecting potential diseases at an early stage.
These examinations are used both to take preventive measures to minimize the risk of disease and to enable early intervention to treat diseases at a stage when they can be best controlled.

Special emphasis is placed on the examination of cardiovascular diseases and cancer, which are among the most common causes of death in Austria.
Screening has two main objectives: primary prevention, which aims to prevent the occurrence of diseases, and secondary prevention, which aims to detect and treat diseases at an early stage in order to minimize their effects.

It makes sense to start preventive check-ups early, as they can help to identify and treat potential health problems at an early stage.
In Austria, health checks are covered by health insurance once a year from the age of 18, which is a good opportunity to regularly check your own health.
Early check-ups can help to detect illnesses at an early stage when they are easier to treat and can also help to reduce long-term health risks.

How often should I go for a check-up?

Ideally, you should have a health check-up once a year.
The preventive check-up becomes increasingly important, especially with increasing age, in order to detect diseases at an early stage.

A preventive check-up helps to detect common diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, bowel and cervical cancer at an early stage.
Risk factors are identified and an individual risk profile is drawn up.
The results are discussed in the final consultation and measures to promote a healthy lifestyle are discussed.

Early detection of illnesses allows them to be treated in good time and chronic illnesses to be avoided.
A medical check-up supports the prevention of illnesses and contributes to long-term health.

In addition, a check-up can help to identify stress conditions and initiate appropriate coping strategies.
If everyday life is affected by conflicts or excessive stress, it is important to address these problems and promote health.

Furthermore, a preventive check-up helps to reduce risk factors such as obesity, elevated blood lipid levels and nicotine addiction.
By identifying and specifically treating these factors, health can be improved and the risk of illness reduced.

You should bring your e-card and a list of the medication you regularly take with you to the check-up.
If you have old findings or doctor’s letters from previous check-ups, it is advisable to pack these documents as well.
This way you can ensure that all relevant information is available for the examination and that we have a comprehensive overview of your health situation.

A preventive check-up as part of the NUHR Medical Check offer includes a preventive stay of three nights (Thursday to Sunday) in a health hotel in Senftenberg.
During this time, participants have the opportunity to retreat, relax and escape from everyday life.
In addition to the medical examination, accommodation, meals and use of the health hotel’s facilities are also provided.

A screening aims to detect potential health risks at an early stage, while a health check-up assesses your general state of health.
Both can provide important information about your health, but the health examination is often more comprehensive and can be customized.
Whether you need both depends on your age, medical history and risk factors.

A preventive check-up at NUHR as a preventive stay, including three nights/four days (Thursday to Sunday) with full board, starts from € 2,500.

Regular check-ups make an important contribution to preventive healthcare.

Attending preventive check-ups is therefore an investment in your own health.
