Rehabilitation at the Nuhr Medical Center
After an operation, accident or prolonged illness, the body needs time to regenerate. This is exactly where rehabilitation comes in. It supports the healing process, strengthens the musculoskeletal system and helps to regain physical and mental performance.
At the Nuhr Medical Center, we support you with modern medicine, professional expertise and a team that is fully dedicated to your recovery.
What is rehabilitation?
Rehabilitation means the restoration of physical, mental and social health after an injury or illness. The aim is to promote independence and permanently improve quality of life.
Rehabilitation includes various therapeutic measures: Exercise therapy, physical applications, targeted training programs, but also nutritional advice or mental support if these are necessary. It can take place on an inpatient, outpatient or day-care basis, depending on the patient’s health situation and ability to cope with stress.
At the Nuhr Medical Center rehabilitation center, we do not see rehabilitation as an isolated measure, but as a holistic process. Doctors, therapists, sports scientists and nursing staff work closely together to strengthen body and mind in equal measure
When is rehab important or necessary?
Rehabilitation always makes sense when performance is limited or pain and restricted movement are a burden on everyday life. It is used for regeneration after injuries, operations or serious illnesses, but also for long-term health care.
After operations and accidents
After orthopaedic surgery such as a joint replacement on the hip or knee or after a bone fracture, rehabilitation helps to restore mobility, strength and stability. Targeted remedial gymnastics, medical training and physical therapy are used to gradually put weight on the affected joint and build up the muscles.
After neurological diseases
After a stroke, multiple sclerosis or polyneuropathy, the focus is on restoring motor skills. Exercises for balance, coordination and strength help to improve movement sequences and promote independence.
After cancer
After tumor surgery or chemotherapy, the body needs support to regenerate. Oncological rehab strengthens the body, promotes stamina and helps to overcome physical and mental exhaustion. Nutritional advice and relaxation techniques are also used at our rehab center.
After a COVID-19 illness
Many people suffer from shortness of breath, fatigue or muscle weakness after an infection. Rehabilitation helps to improve lung function, build up stamina and strength and stabilize the immune system. For this purpose, targeted breathing exercises, gentle endurance training and physical therapies are combined.
For chronic pain or overload
Rehabilitation can also be useful without acute intervention, for example for back pain, osteoarthritis, tension or exhaustion. Heat, electro or laser therapy, massages and exercise training will relieve your pain and improve your mobility.
After prolonged illness or general weakness
Rehabilitation can also help to restore physical performance after prolonged bed rest or illness. It promotes muscle development, stabilizes the cardiovascular system and improves resilience in everyday life.
How does rehab at the Nuhr Medical Center work?
Initial diagnostics
We start with a medical examination. Your current state of health, your complaints and your personal goals are recorded in detail. In addition to the clinical examination, diagnostic procedures such as functional analyses or stress tests are also used if necessary. This careful assessment forms the basis for your individual therapy plan.
Preparation of the therapy plan
Your treatment plan is determined on the basis of the examination results. It includes targeted exercises, physical applications and supportive measures that are tailored to your needs. The plan will take into account your physical limitations, how resilient you currently are and what goal you would like to achieve through rehabilitation. Be it freedom from pain, more mobility or better coordination.
Therapeutic treatment
Several therapy sessions take place daily during your stay. These include active movement therapies such as remedial gymnastics, training on modern equipment, aqua gymnastics or special programs for strengthening and mobilization. In addition, physical treatments such as electrotherapy, heat therapy, cold therapy or laser therapy are used to relieve pain and promote regeneration.
Relaxation sessions, breathing exercises and manual therapies round off the program. The aim is to strengthen the entire organism, i.e. muscles, joints, circulation and nervous system, in equal measure.
Progress monitoring
Your progress will be reviewed regularly during the course of your rehabilitation. Doctors and therapists will discuss with you how your mobility, strength and pain perception are developing. Based on these observations, the therapy plan can be adjusted if necessary to optimize the success of the treatment.
Aftercare and home program
At the end of your stay, you will receive recommendations on how you can continue the exercises you have learned at home in order to maintain the progress you have made in the long term. This includes tips on correct exercise, nutrition and a healthy daily routine. On request, further outpatient care can be organized at the Nuhr Medical Center to continue the recovery process.
How long does rehab take?
The duration depends on the diagnosis, physical resilience and therapy goals.
Inpatient rehab usually lasts two weeks, outpatient programs such as Rehab Visit about ten days. Rehab can be extended or repeated at intervals for complex clinical pictures.
Who bears the costs of rehab in Austria?
In many cases, Austrian health insurance companies cover the costs in full or in part.
The Nuhr Medical Center settles directly with the insurance providers BVAEB, SVS-LW and SVS-GW. The ÖGK pays a corresponding reimbursement of costs on application.
The team on site will be happy to help you organize the process with your health insurance company.
